First Week of Classes and My New Home

Sabbath Greetings to All!!

It's a lovely, warm Sabbath day. We haven't had any rain yet today, which is kind of odd. It rains nearly every day at one point or another. It's nice because it cools things down, but then the mosquitos come out. They seem to love me more than I love them!

All of the teachers were thankful for the Sabbath so we can recharge and get ready for the next week of school. The first week went really well! I love, love, love it! I am enjoying teaching so very much! I am teaching advance English, which include reading, writing and discussion. It's a lot of fun teaching the advanced students and seeing how well they grasp the English language. I am also teaching health and journalism to the second and third year students. Introduction to Bible at this point is probably my most challenging class. This class is for the first year students who have very limited English language abilities. The first two classes have been a challenge. Continued prayer in my abilities to teach and influence the students would be greatly appreciated.

Erika and I took a trip into Chiang Mai to find books for my class and that was an adventure. It was interesting going to different bookstores and trying to find some of the Classics. We didn't have any success on the trip, but it was fun getting to see a little bit of the town. It was like we were on a treasure hunt!

We out for Ferang food night on Wednesday, which was greatly anticipated by all three of us. We were ready for some different food. We went to a place called Duke's. It was really good American food! In the middle Thailand who would have thought! It was a nice change from our typical meals, which include brown rice, fish or chicken (lately LOTS of fish and fish heads that have tons of bones), some sort of greens (in America we would probably call them weeds ;)), yellow bean soup, and about every other day some sort of fruit.  I say all this as if we don't enjoy the meals. We really do! The fish lately has been a bit too much, but overall it's really good. It's fun trying the new and interesting things that I wouldn't dream of trying in the States.

Me and Erika

These are pictures of us waiting for the rain to die down on our way to Duke's so the drivers of the mopeds could see. :)

I finally took pictures of my apartment. I have not taken pictures of the school yet. Hopefully in my next post I will have some.
Nathan's Apartment is at the end of the hall.

Erika's apartment is one apartment from mine.

The walk to school.

Out my back door. It's a little tiled closet type thing. I dry clothes out there and keep the door open for a breeze.

The view outside the back.

The sink and mirror.

View from my front door.

Looking into my apartment from the front door.

My broom, water heater, and cards from friends.

Bed!!!

My closet and fan.

The BEST THING EVER!!!

The photos are a little out of order, but my computer is being funny and I need to get off of it. I hope everyone is doing well! I miss you all very much. Thank you to those of you who have been sending emails and notes my way. They are appreciated very much!

With lots of love,
Lainy
