Home Sweet Home

Hey Everyone!

I am back in Thailand. I am so thankful to be back. I slept for about 18 hours after returning from our journey. I went to sleep at 3 pm and didn't get up until 8:30 am. A good night's sleep. :) It was much needed.

The weather is changing. It's getting to be cold season. It's in the low 80's and everyone is wearing sweatshirts. It's chilly, I must admit. It's kind of crazy. I guess that's what happens when you acclimate to the tropical weather. (Air conditioners are not used here in homes; only fans.)

The trip was a lot of fun. We enjoyed seeing Singapore and meeting up with the UCG congregation there. They were very welcoming. We have fun talking with them as well. Singapore was kind of pricy. We were pretty surprised by this. We stayed Friday and Saturday night there. Friday we checked into our hostel and went to dinner with JJ. Saturday we went to church and hung out with JJ who showed us around a bit. Sunday we went exploring. We went to the zoo and then to China town. We were met at our hostel by one of the church members who took us to dinner. Following dinner, we caught our night train to our next destination... Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It was much cheaper in Malaysia. We arrived at 6:45 in the morning. Bright and Early and we were all dead tired. We didn't get a sleeper like we wanted so sleeping was difficult. I think I slept a total of 2 hours.  We managed with some coffee. :) We got our hostel, got showers, lunch and then went and explored the city. It was interesting. We also went to a butterfly park where we got to walk around and see all kinds of butterflies. One even landed on my head! :) We hung out there for a few hours. We went back and took a 3 hour nap and then went to get dinner. We were so tired... the next day we didn't start until the afternoon. We grabbed brunch and went to KLCC, which is where the twin towers are located, a huge shopping mall and many other big city things. We were planning on going to the bridge of the twin towers, but you have to get there by 8:30 in the morning to get tickets. Needless to say, we didn't get to go to the bridge, but we did get to go inside and see the history of it. It was interesting. We then went to the mall that was in the same area. It made me feel like I was back in San Diego! We looked at an art gallery, which was okay. Not really what I expected, but was glad I got to see it. It was free too, which is ALWAYS a good price! :) (Especially when you are traveling on a budget.) We hung out in Starbucks for a while, then went to the top of the space needle to watch what we had hope because it was overcast. It was pretty impressive seeing the city from the top. I really liked it. I would suggest anyone to go see the city from the top. Since it was our last night in KL we went out to a nice steak dinner. Thailand does not have good steaks, so we were really excited about this dinner. It was delicious!!! My steak was perfect! Very, very yummy! It was a nice way to end Erika's and my visa run! :)

Traveling with a broken leg was interesting! The first leg of our flight was so nice. They reserved the front row of seats for Erika and me. The next flight they gave away the front row, but it was okay. I managed-- I did get an aisle seat. The flight from Malaysia to Chiang Mai they would not reserve the front seat for us, but they let us go through express boarding, which was helpful. Once we got back to Chiang Mai, everyone was so nice to the gimp. :) The security guard came and pulled me out of the immigration line for foreigners and put me in the front of the line for Thais and gave me a seat so I could wait for Erika. Maybe this means I'm really Thai! What do you guys think? ;)

My leg is recovering quite nicely! I go to the doctor on Sunday. YAY! I'm excited to see the x-rays. I'll put a blog afterward or send an email to let you know the details of that. It didn't hurt, but once during the trip. For which I am very, very thankful. My foot is looking better. It's still a bit swollen.

Okay, I think that's it for now. I hope you are all doing well. I can hardly believe that we are half way through the month of November! It's kind of CRAZY!!

Love and Hugs from Your Fav. Gimp in Thailand,
Lainy

PS I'll have photos after Nathan gets back. I opted to not try and balance on crutches and take photos. It just seemed like a safer idea.
